One short break.

I'm just taking a few days off the hobby table just so I can get the business sorted out. Not to mention, I've begun to get really busy with all the stock management, pricing and the likes. (I shouldn't forget, I have to deal with Anthropology this semester.)

I just put this guy on the base just for fun, he looks real funny. Obviously I'm didn't glue him to the base or I will definitely be posing like him at the end of the day.

Possessed Warhammer 40,000

Guys, it must be possessed by you before you can use this book.

Just spent a lot of time working on many different projects, taking a break while looking through the Imperial Guard Codex. I'll be updating soon on my progress of the Chaos Renegade Militia and the tank that I'm working on...

Why people start new armies.

Well well well. I seem to start of most of my blog posts with the word well...

Anyway, I'm sure as a gamer, you've been there, done that, when it comes to the situation when you know you want to start a new army.

I feel that there are a few good obvious reasons why we all start or want to start new armies. So let's take a look:

1) Hands are itching to paint something new.

I really understand when a painter reaches this stage. Why? Take me for example, even though I've been in the hobby after 2 years, I've painted up about 5 armies. And in between, I paint random stuff that have no connections with my current army or the army I want to build in the future. You will eventually get sick and tired of painting the same thing.

I've painted my Orks, stopped, painted the Alpha Legion, went back to Orks, painted Eldar, went back to Orks. Honestly, I got very tired when I was painting my Orks, it's just the same old routine. I did it until I felt sick and tired. To distract myself, I bought different models and started another army before going back to my Orks. This really helped a lot. Because when I was sick and tired of painting my Alpha Legion, I missed my Orks, so I continued. And I'm determined to paint them up for the next Legio league.

2) The fluff is so cool it makes you wanna remake the story you've read.

I've read the book Legion by Dan Abnett twice. I fell in love with the story and I went on making an entire army based on the Alpha Legion fluff. Imagine that, just one book and I built an army!

I've also read the fluff about Prince Yriel in the Eldar Codex and since then, I've been planning on how to paint my Eldar! I'm building an entire army based around Prince Yriel.

3) I want to play something new!!

My first army was the Tyranids, and imagine how it felt to have 3+ armour save when I made the transition to the Chaos Space Marines!

When you're already tired of being on the receiving end of Tank Shock (just because Tyranids can't), start a new army so you can Tank Shock!!

4) I saw someone did something cool, so I want to do it too.

Well, the one army that is calling my name just because I saw that it's cool is the Traitor Guard. I've already made plans to purchase those Chaos Militia sets from Forge World. After building that army, I can tie it in with my Alpha Legion. Now that sounds really cool...

5) There's a new Codex!

I used to play a full jump pack army called the Doom Angels. I based them on the White Dwarf Codex Blood Angels. Oh my, 40 guys flying around is really funny! And now since the new Blood Angels Codex is due to be out in April, I'm itching to repaint my stuff to proper Blood Angels by airbrushing them all red!

Also, the with the new release of the Tyranids, I'm so tempted to make the 60 gargoyle list. That really sounds fun too, but I don't think I can do my nids till next year. Since I've sold my Tyranids, I don't have to worry about remaking the army and I now have the opportunity to build it from scratch.

Well, I'm sure that there are many other factors that make you wanna start a new army. But let me tell you, it sure is fun doing so. I've learnt how to deal with Orks and Tyranids since I used to play them. Sometimes, you know how to defeat your opponent easily when you face the army that you used to play.

Any thoughts?

The lulz of what people do with their free time.

I haven't got the Tyranid codex yet, so I don't know much about it.

But from what I can see, it's quite scary.

Kudos to the guy who made this.

I saw this over at Pink Tyrands anyway. His Tyranids are very nicely done, I like how the colours are done. Pink and grey, very good combination... Check out his blog for the tricked out painting.

The video made me laugh like mad though I understand the atmosphere of the movie is very different.

What's up with 40k Radio?

Dude. I haven't listened to 40k Radio for a long long time... Anyone knows why I can't download their MP3's anymore?

I don't know whether I missed something about them saying that we can't download the MP3's anymore, but I really loved the fact that we could download their shows.

There was one point of time that I didn't have internet connection, so I couldn't download any of their shows at all. But when I wanted to continue, I couldn't at all. Whenever I click the link, they take me to the streaming site, which is not what I want since my internet here ain't that good.

All I wanted was to download a whole load of their shows at once and listen to all of them in sequence one by one...

Awesome Hobby Night!

On Fridays, Legio Malaysia has hobby nights as usual. Just that this is one of the times that we had lots of fun and I got 2 free stuff!

This one here is a miniature that I've been itching to buy a long time ago. The Lich Lord Asphyxious from Warmachine. Just because it looks cool, no other reason. Arzmi gave this to me when I gave him 25 Ork Boyz as a gift because his wife recently gave birth to their first child.

One more little surprise came along when we were playing a Kindred style game. Doc Selvam gave everyone a key chain with a METAL die on it. I'm serious, it's solid cold hard metal!

Normally I would hate key chains as they are cumbersome and have no practical use for me as I only ever carry a single key in my pocket, but this is just awesome!

Thanks guys! See you the next hobby night.

Top Secret Armies.

Well, following what Khairul said. It's kinda funny when you suddenly churn out an army out of nowhere. In any case, I'm currently working on 5 different armies now. And most of you know that I really want to build my Eldar. My Alpha Legion is still not completed. My Orks need more boyz! And the other 2, I will leave it up to your imagination.

Either way, I'm back in my home town now, so I won't be able to get any painting done anytime soon. But I definitely will catch up once I get back to my hostel.

Have fun.

Happy new year.

I find this quite funny.

http://digg.com/comedy/Terrible_band_is_terrible_at_photoshop_steals_logo

Take a look at the link, may not be much info, but definitely something to talk about...

The band Brutal Truth is about to face the brutal truth of the possibility of being sued by our favourite company GW. They should either get a designer to do it for them or go learn some Adobe Illustrator skills.

Funny, this might be the work of Tzeentch... Probably a scheme so GW can sue them and get more money. Luckily not out of our pockets this time... :D

Nice new shelf.

Well, I've been eyeing this shelf for the past few months, and I thought to myself, it's time to get it! The price at Ikea was at RM 249 a long time ago, it dropped to RM 199, and now it's only at RM 179! Great deal for such a beautiful display case.

It's extremely heavy at 42kg's! Requires 2 people to assemble and lots of thinking on how to place certain parts here and there. Now I don't have to worry about not having enough space to keep my minis, especially out of dust!

On the top is obviously my Orks! These are all the Orks I've painted so far, and I'll definitely want to continue painting them.

Some of my Alpha Legion.

And many other minis that I've painted. I realized that the pictures weren't clear, but you get the idea.

I've got more that are not on display obviously, just that these minis are just gonna spend most of their time here if I don't use them.

So if you want one of these sweet shelves, go get one!

Nurturing a new FEMALE Ork player!

It has been a busy week for me, I had to run around with my new classes, make lots of orders, paint lots of minis, assemble more minis and even teach a new player how to paint Orks!

My friend Janice has decided to go the Orky way, simply because they're cute. Hey, I do think Orks are cute too! For the entire day, I had to guide her on how to paint Orks like how I painted mine, which is why her Orks look like mine. She's possible the 7th person I ever taught how to paint.

She had a good start by buying a load of paints, some brushes, the tools, a box of Ork Boyz and Nobz.

I taught her how to speed paint, highlight, shade and drybrush all in a day. And here's what she did with minimum help from me.

Looks like someone is addicted to painting.

The Ork Boy 'ere needs more ladz!

I had to help her with the checks on the Orks. And looking at it, the motif here is very nice, red and black checks. She's decided to actually build an Ork Biker army.

To end with this post, I just had to add this poster I found online.

"More work for me to do now, need to build a new Chaos Lord."

Progress from the pass few days...

As you can very well guess, I've been very busy. My roommate and I have rearranged the furniture in our room to maximize the space that we can have in the room. Mainly because we have lots of stuff, especially me who keeps lots of Warhammer items in stock...

Towards the left of the room is where we keep most of our 40k stuff...

Well, I still have lots in stock, so go check out http://gmf-ministore.blogspot.com to see what I have.

My Orks have been homeless for a moment, I don't have enough space to accommodate anymore minis for now...

Also, I've been working on my vehicles. I took a few days to assemble them and magnetize the Land Raider as well... I just filled the gaps of my Obliterator with green stuff and I'll start spraying most of my minis soon so I can start painting again...

"My other half went overseas to study, she'll be there for some time and come back once in a long time, so it's a heart wrenching moment for me now, but I'll still do my best to keep focused and continue working on my minis and run the business..."

When Super Glue attacks! Visit http://gluedmyfingers.blogspot.com

Before I begin, I would like to share that today is the first time I received a parcel from GW that contains so much metal.

From the picture below, you will see:
2x Iron Warriors Conversion Pack
1x Iron Warriors Warsmith
1x Iron Warriors Shoulder Pads
1x Alpha Legion Shoulder Pads
1x Black Legion Shoulder Pads
2x Chaos Havoc with Autocannon

That's 8 blisters in total!

Well, after washing and removing the tabs off the metal, I got a cut on my finger, which is no big deal, since I always get it when using the knife.

I assembled and worked on the Iron Warriors Warsmith first. Wow, was thinking of letting him stand on a piece of a destroyed vehicle, what style!

I used my all time favourite, high volume, high reliability high powered super glue to do the gluing. In Malay, "Gam Gajah Kuat" literally translates to Strong Elephant Glue, I think you get the idea.

What I'm saying is, the nozzle was kinda stuck when I wanted to glue the Rhino part on to the base for my Warsmith. Seeing that it's stuck, I put more pressure by pressing it a little harder, that's when it decided to attack me! The nozzle "un-stucked" itself by bursting out a load of super glue, hitting most of my left fingers and hand with it.

Luckily there were no minis nearby.

I gave my friend a call and got some nail polish remover from her. Acetone from nail polish removers are claimed to be able to dissolve super glue.

I would say it only worked when I use it to dissolve the glue on my nails. It does not exactly dissolve the glue on the fingers... And remember the cut I told you about? Acetone burns the cut!!! Wash hands with soap after you're done cleaning even if it didn't work...

This is what remains on my hand even after soaking my fingers in the nail polish remover...

Take a read here if you glued your hands or something.

Other than that, tonight's progress has been delayed for a few hours. That's sad. Well, with hard fingers now, getting back to work with the Warsmith...

Gamers Warehouse + Neodymium Disc Magnets + Cheap Green Stuff = Great hobby time.

Hi guys, I just want to inform you guys that I've received 400 pieces of Neodymium Disc Magnets. I have them in 1mm and 2mm form (200 pieces of each).

Prices are as follows:
10 pieces of 1mm = RM 8
10 pieces of 2mm = RM 10

Please buy them in 10's as it makes it easier for me to calculate and keep track. Also, some of them has already been sold, so if you want your fix, better let me know quick before they run out. Nevertheless, I can now have a consistent supply of these little magnets.

Also, one of the most used supply in the hobby is green stuff. As you can see from the picture, those are Gale Force 9's Green Stuff, 100g for RM 55. It's the cheapest of green stuff you can ever get, I assure you.

And I'm sure that most of you have noticed that on the top left of the blog there is a little banner of Gamers Warehouse, 15% off and Free Shipping! Gamers Warehouse is my current supplier and I'm considered their affiliate.

So for you guys who usually buy from the same online store, give Gamers Warehouse a shot, it's cheap, fast, reliable and the person who runs it is extremely friendly.

Also, do remember to check out what I have in stock as I too maintain a high stock inventory, though not as much as Gamers Warehouse, but I have enough and might meet what you need. I also supply at 15% off rrp, though I can't give free shipping yet at the moment. Not to mention, if you support me, sometime in the future you will get to see a new hobby store meant for table top games and such.

To add up to that, I also help anyone who wants to start with the hobby of Warhammer 40,000 or Warhammer Fantasy. I'll introduce the tools, supplies and guide you to start your army. So if you're new, or have been blog hopping while checking out which army to start, you can always ask me questions on how to start with the hobby.

Hobby Tip - Saving space in your room.

Good day! I'll start off today by saying that I've been painting recently, and I'll post up some of my newly painted stuff tomorrow, though it will be on the Alpha Legion again... Nevertheless, I'm still painting!

OK, first of, ever since I've started with 40k, I've noticed that there is a disease called chronic-lack-of-space. My room will get cluttered with sprues and bits from various box sets, especially when I buy things like Space Marines or Chaos Space Marines. Even my Tyranids and Orks have lots and lots of spare bits I'm never going to use.

Do we throw these things away? Definitely not! We will never know how useful it is when we need them for a conversion or when we have those insane ideas of army building thingy...

Within my 40k timeline, I've actually gained lots and lots of sprues, especially used up ones and probably some with barely a few pieces left.

So, in order to save space in my room, I've decided to do the most organized thing I can ever think of, cutting the bits and putting them into a box! Let's take a look.

These sprues have been emptied off the bits.

The bits were then organized in these boxes that I bought from ACE Hardware. They only cost me RM 6.50 each and these are the last of them from ACE.

This is what it looks like inside. Bits! Bits! Glorious bits!

Just a little comparison of how much space I've saved.

To conclude, those sprues will be recycled whenever there's a charity run going on in my university. I don't have the heart to throw them, that's a lot of plastic! I can imagine them being melted and remoulded into a Chaos Land Raider (which is what I direly need right now).

I actually hoped that GW would run a recycling campaign for us hobbyist to sell them the sprues, maybe about RM 10 per kilo or something. So that they can actually recycle these and make them into minis again. It's like killing three stones with one bird! They cut cost on their raw materials, the hobbyist gains a little back from recycling, and the plastic isn't actually wasted off!

So let's hope that if you were to cut out the bits and separate them into compartments, please don't just throw them, recycle them.

"Pun intended. Now go start throwing a bird at three stones."

Caution Danger Warning Hazard Poison Flammable Toxic

After realizing that the management of my hostel has the tendency to come into my room whenever I'm not around to either maintain the air-cond or just to install something or do some maintenance, I've decided to make this and put it on my board to attract the attention of anyone who walks into my room.

I've spent a few hours last night creating that Caution sign and I've printed it out today. It will make me feel uneasy whenever I know that someone has been in my room without my presence. I hope that this sign will deter them from touching my minis as well.

And since there are so many kinds of chemicals in my room, I would not want them to do anything stupid. Especially touching my minis. We all know that resin fumes are toxic, especially the dust. The simple green I have in my room is so concentrated with paint, I believe it's poisonous enough. The spray cans in my room are obviously flammable even though there's no real threat from it.

Anyone wants the sign can download it, I don't mind, I even made one that's blank so that you guys can enter whatever text you want. Grab yours now! To avoid people from touching your things from your table!

Make sure you add the "Professional Hobbyist only." at some point. XD

"Just bought a bunch of stuff from GW Direct and Forge World, my entire Chaos Army is almost complete."

Edit: Oh, I forgot to add, if you want it in PDF or Adobe Illustrator form, do contact me by email and I will send one to you, it's better for printing purposes.

A little bit of painting tips...

This is just too awesome, so I had to make a second post for today...

Today I received this box from one of my buddies. Ivan. Basically he clips off everything from the sprue and puts them in boxes with compartments.

I really wanna get one of these boxes for my bits and do the same. The reason why he passed it to me is because I could make some Chaos Space Marines for myself, and pay him for whatever I used. I need 10 CSM! Since he's not using them, I'll make use of most of it and pay him so he can buy more of the things he wants... Now you guys know how I get my stuff cheap! I don't have that much cash too ya know...

Moral of this story here, get a box like that, saves you the time of rummaging through your bits box looking for a particular part. Not to mention, easy transportation too!

And... Today, on my painting table, I started off by spraying an Obliterator, a Chaos Terminator and another Chaos Space Marine to paint. So the progress is actually very good right now. I just gave the Chaos Terminator and Chaos Space Marine a wash mix of green and blue.

Here's the painting tip I would like to share. How to let your minis dry fast. What I do is, I put them beside my laptop fan. The heat generated from the laptop will dry the miniatures fast. This is how I make them dry without resorting to waiting too long, or to use a hair dryer (I don't even have one).

The warm air being pushed out from the laptop fan is just perfect, I don't have to worry about my minis flying away or the washes being blown away. So it just makes the paint evaporate faster.

Oh, and those Bloodletters belong to my roommate, he's building his Khorne Daemon army now...

One question for my fellow readers. How big is a Legion of Chaos Space Marines?

We all know that a Chapter would consist of 6 Tactical Squads, 2 Assault Squads, bla bla bla. But I wanna know how big is a Chaos Legion. Please leave a comment to let me know, thanks!!

"Back to my painting spree!"

How to get a steady hand at painting...

Hi there, I've been missing in action for a long time, primarily due to the fact that I've been busy with club activities since I'm done with the semester. I have some painted stuff, but I'll post them some other time.

A hand that has tremors are a painter's worst nightmare. Everyone's hand vibrates to a certain degree, just a matter of how intense it is...

A few months ago, I experienced a terrible bout of hand tremors. I couldn't do any free hand, especially when it comes to drawing checks on my Orks. I've went to search online on what's going on and what I can do to minimize it.

Here's what I found.

Hand tremors are caused by stress, caffeine, too much alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, lack of blood sugar, and lack of nutrition.

Sometimes, staying up late to paint isn't a very good idea, especially when you're missing sleep. Though I feel like I'm possessed or something whenever I have a long sitting during a painting session, my hands seem fine maybe because of the amount of focus I'm putting in. But when I start to realize that my back hurts, the concentration drops, and with that I will tell myself to go sleep.

Painting releases stress, unless you're having troubles with your minis or paints. Though I think that extreme stress that frustrates the mind will cause your body to be restless, so do take a little break, take a deep breath, lie down, and continue on when you're calm.

One thing that makes my hand tremor the most is when I drink caffeinated drinks a few hours before I paint. I drink Coke, Pepsi or root beer once in a while, that's when I notice my hands tremor a lot. I never drink coffee, though I noticed that my father who drinks like 6-7 cups of coffee a day has serious hand tremors (I notice it when we have dinner and I stare at his hands). Not like he paints, he loves coffee, so I'll let him be.

If you love beer, I'm not gonna stop you, but it is known that excessive intake of alcohol causes hand tremors. It only applies if you had "too much".

Well, a way to prevent yourself from having hand tremors is getting enough rest, relax, or go take a nap. Though I've heard from a friend that taking a teaspoon of peanut butter before you paint will give you a steady hand. I'm not sure about that, but I think I will just give it a go.

Also, do eat properly and that will ensure that your body has all the nutrition it needs. I'm no doctor, so if you need further advice, go see one.

If you have a method that proves true, besides from the putting your hands together when painting, do let me know, I would like to hear...

My picture went up on BoLS...

Not my picture technically, but the minis in the picture in Bell of Lost Souls are mine. The picture was taken by Nahri during the C2AGE back at the 16th of May.

Hmmm, minis with cool poses can make funny comic strips...

Edit: The Ork Nob is one of my recent painting. The Prince Yriel was painted a long time ago, which explains why it's so dusty and the poor painting skills during that time... I'm gonna strip off the paint and redo Prince Yriel.

As you can see on the left side of the blog, I'm already sorting out the posts of my blog into a more appropriate labelling system.

Something funny from GW

Today I received a parcel from GW, one of my recent GW direct orders have arrived and it's mainly for my customers who ordered them. At first glance, the blue tape around the box hinted that someone had taped it apart from GW. It looked like the customs had it. But upon closer inspection... Just look ahead at the pictures...

Hooray! I got colour pencils! Brite Ideas! Woo woo! Hoo hoo!

My guess is they accidentally packed that into my box when they were sealing it at the airport. Luckily enough nothing fell out of the box though it was found damaged/opened...

Since you now know my address, feel free to send me money or minis if you want. XD

I'm completing my squad of Alpha Legion now since I've finished my assignments way ahead of time.
