Chaos Chosen - Alpha Legion Rhino

I've been painting, yup. Did lots and lots to this Rhino. Though I still have lots in line, I think I should finish up this Rhino first.

After this, I will start on probably my Chaos Terminators, or the Plasma Havocs.

I didn't like how the right side, turned out. Never mind that, I'll rectify it.

Used some Scorched Brown to weather the vehicle a little.

I love using Boltgun Metal for the highlights, simple, easy, effective, looks like scratches and battle damage too.

Instead of leaving the top so empty, I've decided to do the free hand of the hydra here. The steps were simple, start with Dark Angels Green then go on with Snot Green. I have to mark out where the heads would be and all that.

It's not done yet obviously, but I'll work faster with it. I also need to practice on free handing more often, seeing that how this turned out didn't please me as much.

Hobby Tips - Never put your drink near the painting cup!

Well, this will be a major hobby update. For the past few days I've been assembling and assembling non-stop. And up till today, I've managed to start painting on the stuff I've been assembling.

Why I said "Never put your drink near the painting cup"? Because, when your body is accustomed to the position of your painting cup, your hand will automatically dip the brush into the water and the swishing movement of the brush will begin. Lucky for me, my cup is already half way done, and I realized instantly that I was about to mix Badab Black into my drink. Will that be Yummy?

Here are some images from a few days ago. I've been assembling a lot as I've mentioned.

These will be my Alpha Legion Chosen Chaos Space Marines. Anyone smell 5 meltas?

I've also been assembling more Ork Boyz from the Black Reach set.

Not only that, I've finished assembling 5 Chaos Terminators along with a Chaos Terminator Lord and a Sorcerer Terminator Lord.

I also assembled 2 Chaos Rhinos for my Alpha Legion. One of them is for the Chosen Chaos Space Marines.

The one below is the Rhino meant for my Chosen. I've did a minor conversion on the twin-linked bolter. Since I want this Rhino to stand out more, I let the gunner hold two bolters which should count as twin-linked. (You may steal this idea.)

Sprayed with Chaos Black. Real good spray to have and use.

Today, the painting process started.

Looks sexy! Black Rhino with Alpha Legion doors!

I'll be doing my best in completing this Rhino as soon as I can since I've got lots more to paint. I'll also be including some free hands on this Rhino just to make it a little bit more "special".

Mad hobby rush! Assembly line...

I should have posted this a few days back, but I was quite busy and went out of town awhile.

I was preparing for the Legio's Iron Painter event. Assembling and assembling more Orks! I'll be bringing more Ork Boyz for the Iron Painter and I will most definitely attempt to go for the Iron Halo award. I would have to paint 30 models worth of at least 1,000 points within 12 hours.

I like this Ork's pose. Real cool.

I've also finished assembling my Alpha Legion Land Raider and have sprayed it black.

Looks like for the next few days I will be assembling more than I will paint. Since I need to start putting together more models for the Iron Painter and practice it on my Alpha Legion...

Thank you Forge World, for messing up.

Recently I've ordered quite a bunch from Forge World. One of them was the Ork Warboss on Warbike and the rest of them were 2 Alpha Legion Rhino Doors and 1 Alpha Legion Land Raider door.

As you can see, here are the packs that contain all the doors.

Take a closer look and you will see the difference.

Well, knowing that it's their fault in packing the doors, someone somewhere in the other side of the world who ordered the Alpha Legion Rhino Doors will possibly be receiving a duplicate of the left side, in which I already had a duplicate of both right doors. Even though I could work with it, but I think it's best to ask them to send it to me again.

After all, I've bought lots of stuff from them...

So today, Ivan brought me the new pack that they've sent. It arrived within 2 days.

This is not the first time that Games Workshop or Forge World has done some wrong packaging, but honestly, I love it when they do it... XD

Legio Malaysia - Inquisition Wars 1750 Tournament

Yesterday was the Inquisition Wars 1750 Tournament at Legio. The night before the event I had to make a few objective markers for myself since I hadn't done any, I rushed 3 out. More about them on the next few posts.

We were divided into the Red and the Black team. I was in the Black team and the picture below shows the entire Black team there. I couldn't find the picture of the full Red team, but I know that they're scattered here and there across blogs and sites.

More coverage of the event has been written up at Legio. More pictures are also shown at Azlan's blog, he didn't play in the event in order to be the Tourney Judge.

Also, thanks to Jeff for organizing such and amazing event. We had 24 players who were there to roll dice. Screams of agony were heard and victory cries were loud at the tourney, we heard lots of cheering and commotion throughout the entire duration of the games.

A picture below shows my Alpha Legion in play in round 1. I enjoyed the games a lot, especially the mission of defender versus attacker. (I was defending against some beautifully painted Imperial Guard by Hongxi.)

The image below, gotten from the Legio, shows our ranking and standing. I'm actually quite happy that I did very well, though in round 2, my dice rolls were terrible and I got horribly ground to dust. Even though I was the top of the black team, we were still far from anywhere near the champ.

Here's the army list I used at the tournament.

Champion with combi-plasma painted.

I've painted up the champion with combi-plasma along with 3 other guys that were waiting for me to paint for a long time. Finally I sat down and dealt with all of them at once.

The highlight of the day is of course, the champion with combi-plasma. I actually cut it off and made it a little more compact.

I think I still have to work on the glowing effects he gets from the plasma on the bolter, so I'll continue to work on him.

I still have more men to paint up, and news is here that my Forge World order will be arriving soon, so I will show you guys what I bought.

Hobby Tips - Sketch before freehand.

Sometimes I've painted my freehanded stuff on vehicles just by chance or by intuition. This time, I've been having difficulties when I wanted to create a motif for freehand for my Alpha Legion's Chaos Chosen's Rhino.

Since it's for my Chosen, I think it would be nice to give it a good freehand for their Rhino.

So, in one of my psychology classes, I was overly bored and started doodling for freehand on my Rhinos.

I like the Chaos Star, it's such a beautiful thing. Makes me want to paint Black Legion. I'll be using the Hydra symbol on the right for the Rhino when I my stuff arrives.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and finds this a little helpful.

Added 2 more vehicles to my Alpha Legion. And a long update.

Well, I have recently shifted my room. I moved to a twin sharing and took the whole place to myself, mainly because I need to space to keep the incoming stock before I open up the game store soon. I'll keep that for another post.

After much tidying up, arranging of all that I have and have gone through the MAD (Mass Assignment Disorder) season, I finally got back to painting.

Basically I sat down today and finished painting the Predator and the Rhino.

I fully magnetized the Predator, including the ammo box at the back of the turret. This is the Lascannon load out.

This is the one with the autocannon and heavy bolter load out.

My last Rhino for my troops.

I have 8 more Alpha Legionnaires to complete. I'll be making more of them anyway, so it won't end here.

Now, this is my favourite non-living creature. His name is Yaysies!

It's Yaysies VS the Alpha Legion + Iron Warriors. A total of 2575 points here that I've painted.

I think they're in for a tough time.

Oh well, I'll be making some Chaos Chosen with a full power fist load out just for fun, imagine a full squad of 10 outflanking Chaos Chosen in a Rhino with either 5 flamers, 5 plasma guns, 5 meltas or 5 power fists! It's purely just for fun anyway.

I've calculated that if I've finished painting all that I've purchased and intend to purchase, I will possibly have 4,000+ points. Let's see if I can make it that far...
