Doom Angels - Honored Veteran Sergeant Calisto

Here's a few shots of my most recently painted model for my Doom Angels army... Note that the decals on his shoulder pads are painted on, meaning, I've used the Blood Angels decals on him, then layered Space Wolves Grey then Skull White on it, with a coat of Matt Varnish on it... I'm still working on my marines, though I find that I have many more minis to paint!


The space to write his name is quite tight!

Random Painting 2 - Skaven Gutter Runner

Hi all, I've actually painted this little guy here, a Skaven Gutter Runner, right before I return to my hometown for Chinese New Year. Total time it took was about 2 hours, and this does not include the basing part, which I have no idea why I could forget.

Besides, the model ain't complete without the base painted, but I'm gonna run through what was done for this model.



Basecoat: Black

This is a breakdown of all the colours used on the model, remember, the essence here is speed:

1. Cloak was painted with Space Wolves Grey, washed with Badab Black
2. The skin was painted with Scorched Brown, then layered with Vermin Brown
3. The weapons were painted with Boltgun Metal
4. Whichever parts that look like leather was painted with Snakebite Leather
5. The claws and teeth were painted with Bleached Bone
6. The tail was painted with Elf Flesh
   
7. The whole model was given a wash of Devlan Mud

Presto! One model in 2 hours! I have to work on my timing to finish it up faster. I might prime them with white next time to see if that makes painting faster. There you go, enjoy!

Random Painting 1 - Bloodletter of Khorne

Well, I think it would be fun for me to start a random painting series of what I paint. Since I've been painting frequently, I end up painting models that are not intended to be in my army...

First off, this is a Bloodletter of Khorne, the model belongs to my roommate, and it was painted by me just to give him a benchmark for him to paint his Bloodletters...

Here's the breakdown on what paint was used:

Basecoat:

White Spray

Body:

1. Vermin Brown on the white base coat.
2. Scab Red, leave the horns, claws and tongue Vermin Brown
   
3. Blood Red dry brush all over model, leave some Scab Red just to add some shadowing.
4. Baal Red wash on the red parts of the model.
5. Blood Red dry brush again just to deepen the shadowing.
6. Finally Golden Yellow dry brush to make the model have an orange feel...

Horns, claws, teeth and eyes:

1. Give them a wash of Devlan Mud to darken the claw contact point to the skin
2. Komando Khaki
3. Bleached Bone is used to enhance and brighten up the claws.

Tongue:

1. Leviathan Purple wash
2. Followed with watered down Lich Purple
3. Asurmen Blue wash was given to make the tongue more... How do you say this... More like a Bloodletter tongue, yeah, that should be it. :)

The sword was just a progressive highlighting of reds and yellows, you should experiment with the colours as I'm not that good at blending yet...

The terrain on the base is just simple, glue some GW sand all over the base and paint it all black (please do this after the glue dries), then dry brush with Fortress Grey.

I have a habit of painting the rim of the base, so I gave this model a Tin Bitz rim.

Ah yes... Since I've been painting my marines, I painted the free Ork Nob from the White Dwarf issue just for fun... This makes me want to start Orks as I've been wanting to play a huge horde army... The Tyranids are too dependent on one another, needing the Synapse, and back-ups and what not... So I've ordered my first box of Ork Boyz, and I'm gonna slowly paint em up to prepare fer da Waaaagh an' go stomp sum' humies!!

Tyranid Army Shot

Finally had the urge to update the blog, I had too, since I already have the camera and I've been painting so much already...
Well, my Tyranids had a major colour change throughout the year, so here are the updates...

"I've decided to make this blog to not only show my Tyranids, but my other painted stuff and also to focus on other stuff about WarHammer 40,000 and WarHammer Fantasy..."

I think it is time for me to update my blog with the new colour scheme of my nids that I have been painting for the past few months... I will need to get hold of a camera from my friend...

Zoanthrope

Dealling with a Zoanthrope is not easy. First, it comes in a few confusing parts where a first-timer will have to stare and stare till he get's the idea what GW is telling him.

Next, is to turn it to this which takes hours. The claws and the vents are really difficult to do.

After that, base it. I used Selley's Kneadite to hold the base of the Zoanthrope properly to the base.
I used black acrylic spray to prime it black.
Finally I'm done, the last two pictures are from Aaron Foo Chee Mun, only he has the equipment and skill to do this.
Note the lines on the head.
