Needs an update

I think it is time for me to update my blog with the new colour scheme of my nids that I have been painting for the past few months... I will need to get hold of a camera from my friend...

Zoanthrope

Dealling with a Zoanthrope is not easy. First, it comes in a few confusing parts where a first-timer will have to stare and stare till he get's the idea what GW is telling him.

Next, is to turn it to this which takes hours. The claws and the vents are really difficult to do.

After that, base it. I used Selley's Kneadite to hold the base of the Zoanthrope properly to the base.
I used black acrylic spray to prime it black.
Finally I'm done, the last two pictures are from Aaron Foo Chee Mun, only he has the equipment and skill to do this.
Note the lines on the head.

Horrifex - Completed

I took nearly 2 days just to handle this one Horrifex, to file the uneven parts, epoxy the crevices and to actually paint it properly. Nevertheless, it is done.

A remain of the Scything Talon is used to fit in between the tusks to make it look more menacing.

The Toxin Sacs are not that obvious, the colour isn't bright enough, but it still looks good.

I took the Adrenal Glands from the Gaunts and glued it by the side of the head to make it look more natural.

The Terrorbore was completed at the same day too.

Horrifex - I dunno what name to put for this fex..

Sorry I cheated, I actually painted the modified head already. I can't think of a name for this Carnifex, if you have a good idea please share it with me...

A higher resolution pictures, as demanded by Izwan. Here's the head of the next modifying job I'm gonna use this head for my next Carnifex.

Here's some details, watered down some Red Gore into the crevice and used Chaos Black to touch up. The cut-off scything talon is painted Scab Red then Red Gore then highlighted with a little Blazing Orange to bring out the "feel" that it's sharp!
No markings will be found on the joint since I glued it to hold it down while I use epoxy to fill in the gaps. We can find many unused parts to be converted/modified to make other monsterous creatures look cool.

Terrorbore

The main highlight of my army is the Terrorbore. A Carnifex modified using Devourers as tips of the carapace. I followed the main theme of my army, but I watered down lots of Shining Gold within some areas.

Missing 2 more Devourer guns, I'm fitting 4 Devourers on this guy.

My new project, when my next battleforce arrives, I'm modifying another Carnifex, cut of an unused scything talon.

Glue the scything talon to the head and seal it off with epoxy, that will create a seamless bond. Will upload picture after I paint it.

My Army's scheme

First off, this is only my first Tyranid Battleforce set, my first painted figure is the Hive Tyrant, followed by Genestealers, Gaunts, Hormagaunts and the mighty Carnifex. The Ripper Swarms are left last. Here's some shots of my army, thanks to my friend Wesley who kindly borrowed me his 5 mp camera phone. Disclaimer*my first army*, don't kill me over lousy paint jobs...

Basically, I used Flat Black Acrylic Spray to give a smooth layer of cover, NEVER buy Aerosol spray, it stinks and it give off a grainy feel, suitable for terrains only. Overall colour usage, Chaos Black, Scab Red, Red Gore, Shining Gold, Hawk Turquoise, Skull White, Snot Green, Bestial Brown, Vermin Brown, Snakebite Leather.

Tyranid Battleforce

Come on guys, this is the only box that provides you the essentials of playing a proper game in the Tyranid faction. It contains:

• 1 Tyranid Carnifex
• 3 Tyranid Warriors
• 8 Tyranid Genestealers
• 8 Gaunts
• 8 Hormagaunts
• 10 Ripper swarms

Nevertheless, it can boost you up t at least a 500 point, and if you include a Hive Tyrant, you should have about 650 points! Enough to play a mini game!
